EUFAULA – Betty D. Davis, 66, of Eufaula passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 at Crowne Management Health Care of Eufaula.
Betty was born Nov. 27, 1924 in Uniontown to the late William Fletcher and Doshey Lolley Drummond. She grew up in Dayton and returned to Dayton every year for a special “Town Reunion” of classmates and friends who grew up together there for many years.
Betty worked as a professional seamstress with Vanity Fair for more than 25 years, and then worked in sales at B.C. Moore’s before retiring. She was also very active in her church work while in Atmore at Martinville Baptist Church as a Sunday School teacher, W.M.U. leader, Bible school teacher and outreach worker and many other jobs until she moved to Eufaula in 1993 after the death of her husband in 1988. While at Calvary Baptist in Eufaula she continued her mission work in much the same way except she and friend, the late Lena Mae Tew worked diligently visiting Crowne Health Care Nursing Home weekly seeing about friends and others. They would go shopping for the residents, and Betty would even pick up some and take to Church with her on Sunday. After living with her daughter for awhile, Betty decided when the need arose, she wanted to live with her friends at Crowne Health Care, and they were a wonderful “family” that took great care of her for the past two years.
Her parents; her loving husband, Norris Elmer (Goat) Davis; infant son, Norris Alexander Davis; son, Arthur Bennie Combs; sisters, Alma Drummond, Brame Smith and Louise Drummond Crapps and grandson, Bennie Ray Combs, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two children, Jean (Davis) and husband Wayne Robinson of Eufaula and Charlie and his wife Libby (Stabler) Davis of Auburn; grandchildren, John Wayne and Debbie (Hines) Robinson, Jeffery and Jenni (Leroy) Robinson, both of Eufaula, Jason and Sharon (Symons) Robinson of Troy, Byron and Tricia (Simms) Davis of Pine Mountain, Ga., Jennifer (Davis) and Rich Martin of Acworth, Ga., Rebecca (Davis) and Jason Meadows of Dallas, Ga.
