John Henry Carter

ATMORE – Mr. John Henry Carter Sr., 69, of Atmore transitioned into eternal rest on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at a Pensacola, Fla. hospital.
He was a native of Atmore and was a graduate of the Escambia County Training School in 1959. He worked for South Alabama Gas Company for 32 years before retiring in 2003.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Iris Carter of Atmore; one daughter, Lolita (Ron) Fields of Montgomery; one son, John Henry (Natarshawa) Carter Jr. of Millbrook; one brother, James T. Carter of Brooklyn, N.Y. and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011 at the Turner Funeral Chapel of Remembrance with the Rev. Joseph Williams, pastor of the Gaines Chapel AME Church, officiating. Inhumation will be in the Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC of Atmore directing.
Public viewing will be held from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 21 with a family hour being held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
