ATMORE – Ms. Frances A. “String” Gray, 91, of Atmore transitioned into eternal rest on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011 at a local hospital.

She was a native of Atmore and had been a domestic home worker. She was a faithful member of the Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church where she served on the Senior Usher Board and the Missionary Society.

Those left to mourn her passing include three daughters, Shirley F. Gray-Smith of Lithonia, Ga. and Rita A. Gray and Alvanise B. Gray, both of Atmore; three sons, Frank C. Gray of Detroit, Mich., and Wayne C. Gray and Jeffrey L. Gray, both of Atmore; 10 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Hawthorne, pastor, officiating. Retirement of her remains will be in the Stallworth Cemetery with Tuner Funeral Chapel, LLC directing.

Public viewing will be held from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27 at the funeral home, and the family will receive friends at the church on Friday, Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. until funeral service time.
