Lady Cougars dominate Jackson

Behind a 28 point, 17 rebound effort by Amber Huskey, the Escambia Academy Lady Cougars destroyed the Jackson Lady Eagles 63-33 on Monday night in Jackson.
The Lady Cougars (11-4, 4-0) dominated the contest on both ends of the court with a suffocating defense stifling any opportunties the Lady Eagles had.
In the opening quarter of the game, the Cougars jumped out to a slim lead outscoring Jackson 11-8.
The Lady Cougars extended their lead through turnovers in the second quarter as they outscored the Lady Eagles 23-11 to go into halftime leading 34-19.
Following halftime, the Lady Cougars held the momentum and added to their already massive lead in the final two periods of play.
The Lady Cougars kept the Lady Eagles’ offense in check as they held them to four points, while EA’s offense scored 15 to extend their lead to 26 points.
With a 49-23 lead, the Lady Cougars never let up on the Lady Eagles as they again outscored them this time 14-10 to come away with an overwhelming 63-33 win.
Aside from her impressive double-double Huskey finished the game with six steals, one block and an assist.
Lady Cougar Grayson Emmons added 12 points in the win, while pulling down two rebounds.
Lady Cougar Peyton Snider finished the contest with seven points and Rachel Fuller scored six points for EA to go along with one rebound, assist and steal.
EA’s Taylor Helton scored four points with eight rebounds and Megan Duncan rounded out the scoring with three points, six rebounds and three steals.

Escambia Academy’s Lady Cougars picked up their fourth area win in convincing fashion last Friday night in Canoe.
The Lady Cougars (10-4, 4-0) shredded the South Choctaw Academy Lady Rebels 66-19 in game that was never even close.
The Lady Cougars earned the win with a tremendous offensive effort and a defense that pressured the Lady Rebels throughout the game.
In the first quarter, the Lady Cougars immediately established the tempo of the game as they lit up the scoreboard outscoring the Lady Rebels 21-6.
Escambia Academy continued to shut down the visiting Lady Rebels with 17 more points in the second quarter and holding South Choctaw to two.
At halftime, the Lady Cougars led their opponents 38-8.
Following halftime, the Lady Cougars continued their domination and never allowed the Lady Rebels to score more than seven points in a quarter.
In the the third quarter, the Lady Cougars picked up where they left off in the first half by outscoring the Lady Rebels 22-7 and moving into the fourth quarter leading 60-15.
With a 45-point cushion, the Lady Cougars took their foot off of the gas and coasted in the final minutes of play, but still outscored the Lady Rebels 6-4 to pick up the win 66-19.
The Lady Cougars were led by Amber Huskey and Grayson Emmons who each scored 16 points in the win. Huskey recorded a double-double as she posted 10 rebounds and snagged three steals, while Emmons finished with one rebound, one assist and one steal.
Lacie Flowers finished with 10 points for EA and also recorded five steals, two assists and one rebound.
Taylor Helton added eight points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Cougars with three steals and a block.
Samantha Lee and Carlie Broughton each scored four points with Broughton recording four rebounds and two steals, while Lee posted two rebounds and two assists.
