Friday’s sub-region game against the Jackson Aggies is quickly approaching and the atmosphere of the game is reminiscent of the playoff game that pitted that Blue Devils and the Aggies last November.
With such an important game in front of them, the Blue Devils are working hard in practice to be prepared for the contest.
The No. 7 Blue Devils (22-7) the Aggies will play for a berth in the regional tournament to be held next week in Mobile at the University of South Alabama.
Blue Devils head coach Anthony Hayes said his team knows they will be facing a worthy opponent in the Aggies.
“They are going to be athletic,” he said. “This is a talented team that was ranked for much of the season, so we know we are playing a quality team. This should be a fun game for everyone involved.”
With the high-profile game being played at Escambia County High School, the Blue Devils are seeking the support of the community to help pack the gym.
Hayes said he wants people to support this team because of the stakes involved.
“We just want people to support these guys,” he said. “What these kids are doing is special, and it’s been awhile since a team from this school has been this far. Just come out and support us Friday night and wear something blue.”
The Blue Devils and Aggies tip off at 7 p.m. on Friday night at Escambia County High School.
