Spirit of thanks, giving still exists

At a time in our society when most individuals and businesses are out to help themselves, some in the Atmore community are doing their part to help others and show their appreciation.
In today’s issues of The Atmore Advance, you’ll a story that proves our belief to be true.
A Tuesday luncheon at the Atmore Fire Department was held as a family-owned business expressed their thanks to firefighters and police officers who responded to an emergency at their business. It may have been just a barbecue sandwich and the fixings for those who provided the meal, but for those who received the food, it was a show of appreciation that seldom is shown to people in their line of work.
As most people hustle through their daily lives, it’s hard to stop to take a moment to say “thank you” or make a plan to show appreciation in a clear and tangible way.
Tuesday’s events at the Atmore Fire Department were enjoyed by members of that department as well as the firefighting crews of the Poarch Fire Department and the Nokomis Volunteer Fire Department. With nearly 50 firefighters and other emergency personnel on hand to enjoy the meal, the appreciation, thankfulness and genuine gratitude was shown by the Swift family.
We are happy to see the spirt of thanks and giving still alive in our community.
