The white female driver of a Cadillac that overturned in a ditch on Rockaway Creek Road Monday evening walked away after receiving only minor injuries.
It appeared that 26-year-old Anna Lynn of Everette Street in Atmore drove her white Cadillac head-on into the embankment of the large ditch rolling it over onto its driver’s side. After about five minutes, firefighters with the Atmore Fire Department were able to cut the windshield off the vehicle and free Lynn.
According to Atmore Police Department reports, Lynn stated that she was attempting to answer her ringing cell phone when she struck a culvert near the adjacent driveway causing her to go airborne and strike the embankment. The accident occurred at 6:22 p.m.
Paramedics with Atmore Ambulance treated Lynn for minor injuries at the scene of the crash, but later opted to transfer her to Atmore Community Hospital for further evaluation.
Officers with the Atmore Police Department, deputies with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and an Alabama State Trooper assisted at the scene.
It has not yet been determined if alcohol was a factor in the crash, but it has not been ruled out. The accident remains under investigation.
No charges had been filed as of press time.
