Keahey appointed Minority Whip

Alabama Senator Marc Keahey, of Senate District 22, has been appointed Senate Minority Whip of the State Senate by Senate Minority Leader Roger Bedford (SD-6).

Keahey’s responsibilities as Minority Whip will include assisting the Minority Leader on the Senate floor, counting votes, ensuring attendance of minority party members and maintaining caucus discipline on partisan issues and procedural questions.

“I am honored and privileged to be the Minority Whip for the Alabama Senate,” Keahey said. “As Minority Whip, I will work with my fellow colleagues to ensure the issues affecting our great state will be resolved with appropriate action.”

Elected to his first full four-year term in the general election in November 2010, Keahey was first elected to the District 22 seat in June 2009. Before his current run in the State Senate, Keahey served in the Alabama House of Representatives.

While Keahey has been in the Alabama legislature, he has brought industry and jobs to Alabama, such as ThysenKrupp Steel South Alabama and Lakeside Steel.
