Nailers defeat A’s, Cards slip past Flames

In an exciting Saturday Atmore T-ball match up, the Cornerstone Home Builders Nailers defeated The Atmore Advance Athletics 13-8 at Tom Byrne Park.

The Nailers led the entire way as they opened the game with five runs in the first inning as Tanner Sanspree, Michael French, Mykel French, Brody Black and Garrett Harper all crossed the plate.

The Athletics cut the lead to one run in the bottom of the inning as Luke Godwin, Ryan Odom, Forrest Jones and Charlie Sasser all scored runs.

In the top of the second, the Nailers were hammered down as they went three up and three down to end the inning.

Things did not go easy for the Athletics in their second turn at the plate as they also went three up and three down leaving the score at 5-4.

In the top half of the third, the Nailers went on a scoring tear as they scored eight runs with Michael French, Allen, Mykel French, Black, Harper, Tater King, Carmelo Turner, Drew Albritton and Ciara Crenshaw each making there way around the bases to put their team on top 13-4.

The Athletics made a push in the bottom of the inning, but could only score four runs with Ethan Prestridge, Jones, Charlie Sasser and Lorenzo Arnold each touching home plate to make the final 13-8.

Blue Flames 12

The Alto Products Cardinals slipped past the Atmore Utilities Blue Flames 13-12 on Saturday in a battle of Atmore T-ball teams at Tom Byrne Park.

The Cardinals opened the game by scoring five runs as Macy Edwards, Brayden Woods, Kanye Hooks, Dee Brown and Ty Robinson all scoring.

In the bottom of the first, the Blue Flames brought the score to 5-2 as Tuari McGhee and Kayley Cotton were able to cross home plate.

The Cardinals extended their lead by two runs in the top of the second as Edwards and Woods scored their second runs of the game to put their team up 7-2.

The Blue Flames bounced back in the bottom of the inning to take the lead 9-7 with Sarah Bailey, Nya Tucker, Duke Pettway, Kole Stewart, McGhee, Cotton and T.J. Pettway each scoring.

The Cardinals pulled within a run of the Blue Flames in the top of the third with Ty Robinson getting on base and eventually crossing the plate.

In the bottom of the third, the Cardinals scored another run this time with Anthony McCants crossing the plate.

Leading 10-8 in the bottom of the fourth, the Blue Flames were unable to extend their lead with two runners being stranded on base in the inning.

The Cardinals made the most of their final trip to the plate with five runs scoring as Woods, Nana Staples, Hooks, Brown and Robinson all touching home to put their team up 13-10.

The Blue Flames put several runners on base in their final at-bat, but were unable to score more than two runs as Jake Coker and McCants made it around the base path.

Shockers 15

The Cornerstone Home Builders Nailers won again on Friday night in Atmore T-ball action as they defeated the Tri-Co Electric Shockers 16-15 at Tom Byrne Park.

The Nailers opened the game scoring seven runs with Tanner Sanspree, Michael French, Zack Allen, Brody Black, Tater King, Carmelo Turner and Drew Albritton all scoring runs.

In the bottom of the first, the Shockers fought back to cut the Nailers’ lead to two runs as Will Smith, Exavion Bradley, Christopher Johnson, Brodie Phillips, Kaitlyn Weaver and Charles Weaver all crossed the plate.

Eight runs in the top of the second helped the Nailers extend their lead to 15-6 as Ty McCants, Malayzia Crenshaw, Sanspree, Michael French, Allen, Black, Garrett Harper and King all made their way around the base path.

The Shockers answered with six more runs in the bottom of the inning as Trenton Smith, Will Smith, Bradley, Johnson, Kaitlyn Weaver and Tyler Ragan all scored to make the score 15-12.

The Nailers only added one run in the final inning as Albritton scored his second run of the game to give his team a 16-12 lead.

The Shockers made a strong push in their final turn at the plate, but could only get three runs as Will Smith, Bradley and Johnson scored to put the final at 16-15 in favor of the Nailers.

The Atmore Utilities Blue Flames earned a big win on Friday night defeating The Atmore Advance Athletics 25-9 in Atmore T-ball action.

The Blue Flames went to bat first and scored eight runs as Kole Stewart, Tuari McGhee, Kayley Cotton, T.J. Pettway, Antonio Brown, Anthony McCants, Ayden Bonner and Sarah Bailey all crossed the plate.

In the bottom of the first, the A’s put five runs on the board with Luke Godwin, Forrest Jones, D.J. Nichols, Judson Lee and Charlie Sasser each scoring runs.

Eight more runs were scored by the Blue Flames in the top of the second as Duke Pettway, Stewart, McGhee, Cotton, Pettway, Brown, Jake Coker and McCants all scored to put their team ahead 16-5.

The Athletics could only get one run in the bottom of the second inning with Lorenzo Arnold being the lone batter to score to pull his team within 10 runs.

In the final inning, the Blue Flames scored nine runs as Duke Pettway, Stewart, McGhee, Cotton, T.J. Pettway, Bonner, Bailey, Jovon Brown and Nya Tucker all scored to give their team a 25-6 lead.

The Athletics could only get three more runs in their final at-bat with Nichols, Sasser and J.B. Bellew all crossing the plate to make the final 25-9.

In a battle of Atmore T-ball teams, the Atmore Utilities Blue Flames defeated the Tri-Co Electric Shockers 17-12 on Thursday night at Tom Byrne Park.

The Shockers opened the game with three runs as Will Smith, Exavion Bradley and Christopher Johnson gave their team a 3-0 lead.

The Blue Flames answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning as Kole Stewart, Tuari McGhee, Kayley Cotton, T.J. Pettway and Jake Coker all scored.

In the top of the second, the Shockers tied the game at five with Tyler Ragan and Charles Weaver putting runs on the board.

The Blue Flames took the lead again in the bottom of the second as Nya Tucker, Duke Pettway, Alana Shelley, Cotton and T.J. Pettway all crossed the plate to put their team ahead 10-5.

The Shockers pulled within three runs in the top of the third as Bradley and Johnson scored their second runs of the game in the top of the third, but the Blue Flames pulled away with seven runs scoring in the bottom of the inning as Anthony McCants, Ayden Bonner, Sarah Bailey, Jovon Brown, Duke Pettway, McGhee and Cotton all scored.

In the final inning, the Shockers scored five more runs, but could not get close enough to the Blue Flames as Will Smith, Bradley, Charles Weaver and Trenton Smith all scored bringing the final score to 17-12.
