Escambia Cougars best Fort Dale 4-1

The Escambia Academy Cougars added another victory to their win total on Tuesday by defeating the Fort Dale Eagles 4-1 at home in Canoe.

The Cougars took the lead in the third inning and never looked back as they held off a seventh inning challenge by the Eagles.

After keeping Fort Dale off of the scoreboard in the top of the first inning, the Cougars took the lead 1-0 with Chason Roley (2-for-3, 2R) crossing home plate.

The Eagles tied the game in the top of the second inning inning with Till getting the visitors a run on the board, while their defense kept EA from taking the lead back in the bottom of the inning.

Escambia Academy took the lead again in the bottom of the third inning with Jarrett Hadley (1-for-4, R) recording his first run of the day and Roley scoring his second.

With a 3-1 lead, the Cougars held the Eagles off of the scoreboard in the top of the fourth, while scoring their fourth and final run in the bottom of the inning with Clayton Dyess (1-for-2, HR, R) scoring on a solo homerun to put his team ahead 4-1.

The Cougars would hold their three-run lead for the rest of the game holding off a seventh inning charge by the Eagles where three batters would be stranded on base to give Escambia Academy an important 4-1 victory.
