Y recognizes seniors May 23

Seniors in the Atmore area are in for a treat on National SilverSneakers® Day set for May 23.
The Atmore Area YMCA will host a day for seniors to encourage them to keep a healthy, active lifestyle by partnering with Golden Care Senior Program and Healthways SilverSneakers®.
Yolanda Webster, business manager/SilverSneakers® coordinator for the Atmore Area YMCA, is coordinating the event for seniors in the Atmore area.
“National SilverSneakers Day was developed to recognize physically active older adults across the nation and to honor their commitment to an active lifestyle,” Webster said.
The activities for SilverSneakers® Day includes a meet-and-greet in the morning followed by demonstrations of a SilverSneakers® class and the Y staff will present the city with a proclamation requesting this day be recognized each year in Atmore.
