Brush fires burning in county

Firefighters continue to battle five wildfires that began Thursday afternoon between Atmore and Flomaton.

The massive fires, which began Thursday after noon are believed to have been started by a blown tire on a truck, and have burned up more than 400 acres.

The blazes that have jumped highways continue to be a threat to home and emergency personnel are evacuating residents in the areas of concern.

More than 100 firefighters are on the scene battling the blazes that nowhere near a point of containment, according to a volunteer firefighter on the scene.
