Wreck claims life of Blount County man

At approximately 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, Alabama State Troopers responded to investigate a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Blount County man and injured four.

The crash occurred on Interstate 65 South about 18 miles north of Flomaton. Andrew Chanse Williams, 20, of Cleveland was killed when the 2003 Ford Explorer in which he was a passenger left the roadway and overturned in a ditch. Williams and three other passengers were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the vehicle. The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was not ejected.

Williams was pronounced dead at North Baldwin Hospital. All other occupants of the vehicle were transported to USA Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.
