Volunteer firefighters are special people

It takes a special kind of person to become a volunteer firefighter.
For no pay, you put your life on hold when duty calls — and, more important, put your life on the line for your neighbors.
When an emergency call comes, volunteer firefighters are often the first — and sometimes only — responders on the scene.
Their work can mean the difference between life and death, and they can also help save someone’s home or belongings.
We cannot emphasize enough how important it is for those who are served by volunteer fire departments — and even those who are not — to give back.
Those departments hold fundraisers on a regular basis to be able to afford the equipment and training they need to help protect us.
And if you think you have the heart to volunteer as a firefighter, please call the department in your area. Your assistance at the scene might not even be required — some departments also need help with secretarial work or grant writing.
But if you cannot volunteer, please consider giving. Your donation helps protect you and your neighbors.
