Atmore police are investigating a Thursday morning incident that left an Atmore man dead.

Christopher Payne Andrews, 23, was found dead near his vehicle at 195 Maxwell St., according to information released by the Atmore Police Department.

According to the release, Atmore Police officers responded to a 911 call placed at 12:56 a.m. Thursday about a person being shot. Officers were directed to go to the Maxwell Street address.

Officers reportedly found Andrews lying next to his vehicle at the scene suffering from multiple gun shot wounds.

Paramedics with Atmore Ambulance arrived on the scene and pronounced Andrews dead

Atmore Police investigators are following several leads in the case, but are asking for help from the public in search of additional information.
