Escambia Academy’s Lady Cougars volleyball team opened its season Saturday with a doubleheader at Marengo Academy.

The Lady Cougars fell in both matches to open the season 0-2 overall and in their region.

In the second match, the Lady Cougars opened up by winning the only game they won in both matches defeating the Lady Longhorns 25-19.

Marengo then won the following three games 15-25, 21-25 and 22-25.

Marengo swept the Lady Cougars in the first match on Saturday defeatin g them 13-25 in the first game, 19-25 in the second game and 20-25 in the third game.

The Lady Cougars get a nice break before their next match on Sept. 12.

In the next match, Escambia Academy will travel into Florida to take on the Jay Lady Royals in doubleheader for the varsity squad.

The junior varsity will get things stared at 4:30 p.m. in Jay, Fla.
