The Escambia County Sheriff’s Department is currently holding an Atmore man in custody on $100,000 bond for charges of rape and sodomy in the first degree.
According to Escambia County Sheriff’s Investigator Hartsel, Edward Harrison was apprehended by officers with Atmore Police Department Sunday and is incarcerated in the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
No official statement has been released by the sheriff’s office or APD, but another Atmore man, Christopher Robin Holden, said Harrison was arrested Sunday night at a home near Jack Springs Road after attempting to flee the residence through a window.
“I was the one that took the police right to where he was at,” Holden said. “When he seen me he was all right, but when he saw the police right behind me he went out the bathroom window.”
Holden said he was “raised” with Harrison and turned him into police after discovering “evidence of the abuse.”
Atmore police chief Jason Dean said APD does not have all of the facts in the case as of yet but said the investigation is on going.
“We had probable cause to make an arrest,” Dean said. “But we’re still putting the pieces together.”
