David Lee Autrey

ATMORE – David Lee Autrey, born Jan. 20, 1931 to Samuel David Autrey and Georgia McMillian Autrey in Repton, Ala. He accepted Christ at an early age and was united with Mt. Rose Baptist Church in Repton. He joined the U.S. Air Force and traveled the world over. He moved to Atmore after retiring as a military sergeant and joined Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church. He later united with Saints with a Vision where he was a faithful member until God called him home on Oct. 2, 2011 at Mobile Infirmary in Mobile.
He was united in holly matrimony to Emma Harley, of Panama City, Fla. To this union, four children were born, Jacqueline, Gary, David Jr. and Toni. When departing from this union, he lived in several cities in the United States and later returned to Atmore to be with his family and friends.
His father, Samuel David Autrey; mother, Georgia McMillian Autrey; stepfather, Willie Odom; two children, Jacqueline Leslie, Gary Autrey; son-in-law Art Lewis; brothers Wilbert Autrey, Eddie (Thelma) Autrey Sr., Lomac Autrey and siter Gladys (Buddy) O’Cain, preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Toni Lewis, of Madera, Ca.; one son, David Autrey Jr., of Franklin, Ca.; one brother, Jies (Marilyn) Autrey, of Mobile; two devoted nieces, Rhonda (Wayne) Johnson, of Atmore and Paulette (William) German, of Atmore; a special friend, Debra Sams, of Atmore; grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 at Saints with a Vision, located at 232 Carver Ave. in Atmore. Internment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Repast immediately following the service at Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church, located 120 Carver Ave. in Atmore.
