It is that time of year once again for the American Legion Auxiliary and Junior Auxiliary to begin their annual poppy drive.

Atmore city council members and Mayor Howard Shell purchased the first poppies of the year during Wednesday’s council meeting.

Poppies are currently being sold by donation by Auxiliary members until Friday, Nov. 11, and will also be available Saturday, Nov. 5 at local grocery stores from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Ariel Whatley accepts a donation from Mayor Howard Shell for this year's poppy drive to benefit the American Legion Auxiliary.
