New ECHS schedule released

Kick off to the 2012 football season is still nine months away, but the Escambia County Blue Devils schedule for next season has just been finalized with some new names mixed in with some familiar opponents from years past.
The Blue Devils will debut the 2012 football team beginning on Friday, Aug. 24 with a jamboree game on the road at Saraland High School. Saraland, which was in the Blue Devils’ region the past two seasons moved up to Class 5A in the new classifications
Following the jamboree, the Blue Devils will come back to Atmore on Aug. 31 to play their annual rivalry game with the T.R. Miller Tigers at Herbert Barnes Stadium.
Escambia County moves into region play in week two with a trip to new region foe Clarke County on Sept. 7, a home game against another new region opponent in Wilcox-Central on Sept. 14 and a trip to Mobile to take on UMS-Wright on Sept. 21.
Faith Academy remains on the non-region schedule for Escambia County with the Rams coming up to Atmore on Sept. 28.
The jump back into region games will be difficult on Oct. 5 as the Blue Devils travel to Thomasville to take on last year’s region runners-up. On Oct. 12, Escambia County will hold homecoming and welcome Monroe County to Atmore.
The next two weeks will feature new region opponents for Escambia County as the Blue Devils travel to Evergreen on Oct. 19 to take on the Hillcrest-Evergreen Jaguars and then host the Andalusia Bulldogs on Oct. 26 for Senior Night. Both Hillcrest-Evergeen and Andalusia come to Class 4A Region 1 from Region 2.
Escambia County closes out the season on Nov. 2 with another rivalry game as they travel to Bay Minette to take on the Baldwin County Tigers.
