Cougars crush Clarke Prep

Escambia Academy earned a region win over the Clarke Prep Gators last Friday routing them 59-31 in Grove Hill.
The Cougars led the entire game as they picked up steam in every quarter to run away in dominating fashion.
In the first quarter, the Cougars clawed for points with neither team finding much shooting luck with EA gaining the advantage 7-5.
Escambia Academy began to pull further ahead of Clarke Prep in the second quarter with a 15-10 run to go into halftime leading 22-15.
Following halftime, EA gained a huge advantage on the scoreboard as they put together a strong run to easily win the match up.
In the third quarter, the Cougars out played the Gators up and down the court with 20 points offensively and held Clarke Prep to 10 to go ahead 42-25 entering the final period.
The Cougars dominated the fourth quarter shutting down the Gators’ offense and outscored Clarke Prep 17-6 to win 59-31.
Cougar Bryant Lambert led the team with 12 points in the win and also recorded six rebounds, while Robert Whatley added 11 points and six rebounds.
Escambia Academy’s Jaylen Henry also scored in double-digits with 10 points and also had a rebound and a steal.
Brett Helton scored seven points for EA, while Jordan Sasser, Josh Peebles and Garrett Kirk each scored four points.
Brandon Goddard scored three points in the victory, while Blake Quimby and Jacob Dean all finished with two points.
The Cougars next game will be Friday on the road at South Choctaw Academy. Games begin at 4 p.m.

In a junior varsity match up on the road, the Escambia Academy Cougars crushed the Clarke Prep Gators 53-27 in Grove Hill.
The Cougars dominated the match up as they outscored the Gators in every quarter.
In the first period, EA jumped out to a lead quickly as they gained a 10-point advantage over the Gators 19-9.
The Cougars follwed up the first quarter with another big period outscoring Clarke Prep 12-4 to go into the break leading 31-13.
Escambia Academy continued their run after halftime with two more big quarters close out the rout over the Gators.
In the third quarter, EA, put nine more points on the scoreboard, while holding the Gators to seven to take a 20-point advantage into the final period.
The Cougars closed the game with a 13-7 run to pull off the 53-27 road victory.
Eli Godwin led the Cougars in the win scoring 13 points and recording two steals.
Cougar Garrett Kirk finished the contest with 10 points, four rebounds and three steals, while Scott Brantley chipped in nine points, three rebounds and three steals.
Kevin Gumapac recorded seven points and three rebounds with Tadd Huskey scoring six points and pulling down five rebounds.
Jake Leachman scored four points and Will Lambert and Bo Ramer rounded out the scoring with two points. Leachman also had three steals and two rebounds, while Ramer had three steals and Lambert pulled down two rebounds.
The Cougars next game will be Friday on the road at South Choctaw Academy. Games begin at 4 p.m.
