Blue Devils move up to No. 5

A matchup of No. 1 boys teams cost one their perch in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers high school basketball rankings.
Previously unbeaten Bob Jones dropped from first to second in Class 6A after a one-point loss last weekend to Lee-Huntsville, which is the No. 1 team in Class 5A. Carver-Montgomery, which has won 13 straight games and twice avenged both of its in-state losses, moves to No. 1.
With Bob Jones (22-1) losing, only one known unbeaten boys team remains in either the AHSAA or AISA. Barbour County (24-0) is ranked No. 1 in Class 2A.
Two other top-ranked teams suffered losses but stayed No. 1. In Class 4A, Butler suffered a three-point loss to J.O. Johnson. In Class 1A, Pickens County fell to Hale County by six.
There were no changes among the top-ranked teams in the girls rankings.
