A total of 24 Northview High School students took the stage in the school’s theater Saturday night for the 2012 Miss NHS pageant. When it was all said and done, NHS senior Charleigh McPherson was awarded this year’s crown.

Sophomore Anna Fischer was this year’s first runner up, while senior Lauren McCall finished as second runner up.

Prior to the show pageant director Anna Barry said she was excited to see what she believed would be a very close race for the crown.

“I am very excited to see the finished product for this competition,” Barry said. “Our theme is ‘On Broadway’ and the girls have worked so hard perfecting the dance numbers.  It’s a very creative pageant and different from last year.”

Barry said this year’s group of girls has the talent and skills to make the judges’ jobs very difficult.

“I think the judges are going to have a tough time choosing between these girls,” she said. “They all have a very strong chance of winning the title of Miss NHS 2012 and I can’t wait to see who walks away with that honor.”

Rounding out Saturday’s top seven were senior Ariel Holland, junior Ashley Cunningham, senior Melissa Moretz and senior Abby Odom.

Freshman Ashlynn McCall took home the Miss Congeniality title. Moretz was named Miss Hospitality. Cunningham finished as Miss Physical Fitness and Odom as Miss Poise and Appearance.

Barry said this year’s pageant was a huge success and she could not be more proud of the contestants.

“I think the pageant was very successful and that each girl was given her opportunity to shine,” Barry said.  “I know it was a tough decision for the judges.  Everything ran very smoothly and I was so pleased that we had a flawless performance from all involved.”
