Lady Cougars beat Sparta 8-2 in Evergreen

Escambia Academy’s Lady Cougars varsity and junior varsity softball teams traveled to Evergreen Tuesday  and came away with wins over the Sparta Academy Lady Warriors.

The varsity dominated their match up with the Lady Warriors picking up an 8-2 win.

In the junior varsity match up, the Lady Cougars earned a win in a low-scoring 2-0 game.

The Lady Cougars next games will be Tuesday at home against Sparta Academy. Games begin at 3:30 p.m. with the junior varsity.

Runs were easy to come by for the Escambia Academy Lady Cougars varsity softball team on Tuesday, as they defeated the Sparta Academy Lady Warriors 8-2 on the road in Evegreen.

The Lady Cougars were strong on offense in the win with eight of nine players scoring a run in the game. At the plate, the Lady Cougars struggled to get hits only picking up five hits in 36 total at bats.

Leading the Lady Cougars was Sydney McGhee who finished the game 1-for-4 with a run scored and two stolen bases.

Lacie Flowers and Grayson Emmons also went 1-for-4 in the contest. Flowers recorded a double with a run scored, while Emmons ripped a double and had a stolen base and an RBI.

Lady Cougar Page Lancaster also hit 1-for-4 in the game and crossed the plate for the Lady Cougars.

Allie Brooks was the final Lady Cougar to record a hit going 1-for-4 in the contest. She also had a stolen base.

Other Lady Cougars scoring runs included Niki Bryan, Hannah Fountain, Megan Duncan and Chelsey Ramer.

Escambia Academy’s Lady Cougars junior varsity softball team stole a 2-0 victory over the Sparta Academy Lady Warriors Tuesday on the road in Evergreen.

The Lady Cougars dominated the contest with stolen bases racking up 16 steals in the process of winning the game.

Lady Cougars Alia Snow and Reagan Bell led EA in the win with each scoring a run. Snow led the team with five steals, while Bell had three.

Also picking up steals were Carson Barnett and Melea McGhee with three steals each, Victoria Sawyer had two and Autumn Corley  picked up one steal.
