Customers jam into Central Farm Supply Wednesday, with many of the patrons taking advantage of the store's special $21 on the 21st sale.
Businesses in Atmore opened doors on Wednesday morning offering customers special deals in conjunction with the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce’s promotion “Spend $21 on the 21st.”
Thirteen local businesses took part in the promotion putting an item or set of items on sale for $21 in an effort to pull in customers and keep tax revenue in the city.
With the event going on all day, Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sheryl Vickery made rounds to all of the businesses to see how the promotion fared.
“Some businesses did really well,” Vickery said. “I think it all depends on the items that are for sale at each place. I went by a restaurant, and most of the people in there had come for the special, so it seemed to be driving customers to each spot. If we can get people in Atmore out spending $21 on any given day, then it’s a success.”
All day at businesses around the city, customers made their way in and out of shops and restaurants seeing what each had to offer.
Jus Because, a store featuring clothing and accessories for women and girls, participated in the event with several items on sale.
The sale, mixed with the popularity of the store, made its business get busy, said Cierra Moye, an employee at Jus Because.
“People were asking about our sales,” Moye said. “I told them that we had several things on sale today, and they all just went at it.”
With the promotion receiving strong support from the community, now eyes turn to whether the event will happen again soon.
Seeing first hand that the event was popular has Vickery wanting it to keep the event rolling each month. She even got in on the action, she added.
“It’s something I really want to keep going,” she said. “I want it to be something that customers and the business owners look forward to.
I visited five stores, and they all seemed to be doing well and having great days. I spent $63 and some change at three stores because they all had great deals that I had to get in on.”
