Cougars place 3rd in meet

Escambia Academy's Megan Duncan runs away from her competition in the girls 100m at Wednesday's track meet hosted by EA.

Despite several first- and second-place finishes in track and field, the Escambia Academy Cougars and Lady Cougars each finished third overall in the meet hosted at Escambia Academy Wednesday.

The Cougars finished with 80 points falling two points shy of Glenwood, while Lee-Scott Academy came away well in first with 114 points.

On the girls side, the Lady Cougars finished with 73 points, while Lee-Scott won the match with 111 points and Wilcox Academy came in second with 101 points.

The results were something to take pride in with several members of the EA teams stepping up, Cougars Head Track Coach David Walker said.

“I’m not disappointed at all,” he said. “We’re getting better and we’ve got some people who ran their personal best, and we did real well in certain events.”
