Fourth-grade students from Perdido Elementary School participated in an ag safety day recently.

Fourth grade students in Wendy Lassiter and Geri Peacock’s classes at Perdido Elementary School participated in a field trip to the Baldwin County Coliseum and Fairgrounds in Robertsdale to learn “how to stay safe on the farm.”

The program was sponsored by the Baldwin County Soil and Water Conservation District. Students learned about everything from tractor and lawnmower safety to safe handling of guns, riding ATVs, and fire, chemical and animal safety.

The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program, formerly known as the Progressive Farmer Farm Safety Day Camp program, was founded by The Progressive Farmer magazine in 1995. The program trains and provides the resources that local communities need to conduct one-day safety programs that are age-appropriate, hands-on, fun and safe for children.
