Rowland’s Renegades wash out Flames

Samantha Roux struck out three batters to help lead the Rowland Tires Renegades to a victory over the Atmore Utilities Flames last Thursday night at Tom Byrne Park.

The two teams facing off in Babe Ruth Softball action played a close game with the Renegades pulling away 11-7 in the final inning.

Trailing 7-5 heading into the bottom of the third, the Renegades added six runs with Destiny Freeman, Vania Gray, Alexis Cooper, Katelyn Barron, Madison Sherouse and Jennifer Powers crossing the plate to give their team the runs they needed to earn the win.

The Flames held the lead twice early in the game taking the lead 1-0 in the top of the first with Zydaja Brown scoring the first of her two runs.

The Renegades took the lead 2-1 in the bottom of the inning with Freeman and Cooper scoring runs, but the Flames fought back to take the lead 6-2 in the second inning with Brown, Nina Wiggins, Olivia Simmons, Skyler Gray and Tatyanna Chambers all crossing the plate.

In the bottom of the second, Lazarrian Boykin, Sherouse and Powers all crossed the plate to pull their team within one run of the Flames.

Chambers put the Flames back out in front by two runs in the top of the third getting on by way of walk and scoring on a single by Brown.

The Renegades put together a rally in the bottom of the inning adding the six runs to come away with a win, as time ran on out on any comeback chances by the Flames.
