PCI earns victory

Daughtry McGhee and Caleb Davis were the leaders for the PCI Blue in Tuesday’s Atmoer Cal Ripken Baseball action at Tom Byrne Park.

McGhee and and Davis each went 2-for-2 and scored two runs apiece, as they propelled their team to a 8-2 victory over the Atmore VFW Rangers.

The duo were the team’s first two runs in the top of the first inning with both runners scoring on a hit by Sheldon Williams (2-for-2, R).

The Rangers tied the game at 2 in the bottom of the inning with Josh Landis (1-for-2, R) and Chris Johnson (1-for-2, R) crossing the plate for the team’s only runs with help from a hit by Hunter Smith (1-for-2, 2RBI).

Following a scoreless second inning, PCI took the final lead change of the game courtesy of a run by Jacob Dawe (1-for-2, R).

Leading 3-2, PCI Blue put the contest out of reach with five more runs in the top of the fourth, as McGhee, Davis, Williams, Talan Daughtry (2-for-2, R) and Braden Woods (1-for-2, R) all crossed the plate.

With a scoreless fifth inning, PCI Blue held on for the six-run victory.

State Farm Braves 4, PCI White 2
Chaston Helton was the difference for the State Farm Braves in their Atmore Cal Ripken contest against PCI White on Tuesday night at Tom Byrne Park.

Helton scored two runs, while going 2-for-2 at the plate to help lead the Braves to a 4-2 win over PCI White.

The Braves had the win from the beginning of the contest scoring three runs in the bottom of the first with NaDavion Steele (2-for-2, R), Randol Dean (2-for-2, R) and Helton crossing the plate.

The lead was still 3-0 until the bottom of the third when Helton scored his second run of the game to give the Braves a four-run advantage.

PCI cut the lead to three runs with their first run in the top of the fourth with Diedrick (1-for-2, R) scoring on a hit by Shaun (1-for-2).

Any chances of a comeback were stomped out int he top of the fifth with Silas Albritton scoring a run for PCI White to put the score at 4-2, but the offense went quiet with three outs following the run.

PCI Blue 6, State Farm Braves 2
PCI Blue put together a team effort to earn a win over the State Farm Braves in Atmore Cal Ripken baseball action at Tom Byrne Park on Monday.

PCI had a late-game explosion scoring all of their runs beyond the second inning to come away with a 6-2 win.

The Braves jumped on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first inning with Chaston Helton (1-for-2, R) crossing the plate.

Trailing 1-0 through the first two innings, PCI Blue responded in the top of the third with Josh Burkett (1-for-2, R) scoring on a hit by Kolby Wooten to tie the game at 1.

PCI Blue took the lead in the top of the fourth with Caleb Davis (2-for-3, 2R) and Sheldon Williams (2-for-3, 2R) adding runs to give their team a 3-1 lead.

Kanye Hooks scored the Braves’ final run in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 3-2, but PCI would put the game out of reach in the top of the fifth with Daughtry McGhee (2-for-3, R), Davis and Williams all crossing the plate to earn a 6-2 win.
