State Farm Braves outscore Rangers

Chaston Helton scored the winning run for the State Farm Braves Friday in 8-year-old Cal Ripken Baseball action at Tom Byrne Park.

Helton scored on a hit by Randol Dean to give the Braves an 11-10 walkoff win over the Atmore VFW Rangers in a game that turned into a shootout.

The Rangers took the lead 10-8 in the top of the sixth inning with Caden Battles and Jairon Hall crossing the plate, but the Braves took the game in the bottom of the inning with NaDavion Steele, D.J. Nichols and Helton scoring the runs needed to win.

The earlier innings had been a battle with the Braves receiving runs from Nichols, Ayden Bonner, Shawn Powell, Steele, Kanye Hooks and Carmelo Turner, while Josh Landis, Battles, Mason Huggins, Tyderyn Pettway, Hunter Smith, Will Smith and Brody Black all crossing the plate.

The Braves led 8-7 until the fifth inning when the final fight for the victory began.

PCI Blue 11, PCI Green 4
PCI Blue dominated their match up with PCI Green in 8-year-old Atmore Cal Ripken Baseball last Friday.

PCI Blue held the lead every inning opening the game with a four-run inning to give themselves an advantage to pull away for an 11-4 win.

The offense for PCI Green was slow to get started with only three batters able to cross the plate in the loss.
