MLK league wraps up regular season next week

In recent games in the MLK baseball league, the Utility Department Blue Flames and the United Bank Braves earned wins.

The Blue Flames took down the First National Bank Mets 10-4 while the Braves of United Bank defeated the Blue Flames 13-3.

The Mets and Braves were scheduled to meet again Thursday at 6 p.m. while the Blue Flames and Mets will play Saturday at 5 p.m.

The Braves and Blue Flames will meet Tuesday, June 26, at 6:30 p.m. while the Mets and Blue Flames will play each other in the final regular season scheduled game Thursday, June 28, at 6 p.m.

All games are played at Houston Avery Park on MLK Avenue in Atmore.

Blue Flames 10, Mets 4
The Blue Flames scored eight runs in the fourth inning to propel them to a 10-4 win over the Mets.

Jaylan Brown earned the win on the mound for the Blue Flames while Dimitri Wiggins took the loss for the Mets.

Jaylan Weaver also pitched for the Blue Flames while Dangelo Parker and Frank Gulley also pitched for the Mets.

Along with the eight runs in the fourth inning, the Blue Flames scored two in the first while holding the Mets to three in the third and one in the fourth.

For the Blue Flames, Dee Lewis had a double and Louie Turner also had a double.

Weaver added two singles in the win.

For the Mets, Keon Malone had a single while Carlos Richardson added a double and a single.

Darrien Abrams and Frank Gulley both had a single each in the loss while Wiggins added a single for the Mets.

Braves 13, Blue Flames 3
The United Bank Braves pounded out 10 hits and scored 13 runs as they pounded the Blue Flames 13-3.

The Braves scored five runs in the second inning and eight in the third while holding the Blue Flames to three runs all in the third inning.

Allen Patterson earned the win on the mound for the Braves as he went three innings and allowed three hits, three runs, walked and struck out four.

Jordaun Patterson went one inning and faced three batters and allowed one hit and struck out one.

For the Blue Flames, Carlos Richardson and Dee Wiggins pitched with Richardson taking the loss. Richardson went three innings and allowed 10 hits, 12 runs, walked two and struck out six.

Wiggins went one inning and struck out one and allowed one run.

At the plate for the Braves in the win, Roddarius Dailey had two doubles while Allen Patterson added two singles. Jordaun Patterson added a single along with Demarcus Lawson and Marvin Lawson. Sauron Martin and Ericka McMillan had a hit each with McMillan having a double.

For the Blue Flames, Wiggins had a triple while Frank Gulley added a double. Keon Malone had a double and Isaih Mason also had a double in the loss.
