A fire at a home on Short Street marks the second time this year homeowner Hubert Rolin has watched the Atmore Fire Department save his house from flames.
At approximately 10:15 a.m. Monday firefighters responded to calls of a house fire at 102 Short Street, where units from the Atmore, Poarch and Nokomis fire departments worked to quickly control the flames. Atmore Fire Chief Gerry McGhee said the first fire at the residence, in January of this year, was due to an electrical problem. McGhee said, while they have not yet determined a cause for Monday’s blaze, electrical problems are a possibility.
Rolin said he was surprised at how quickly the fire began at his home, where he lives with his wife, Rhonda, and her father Douglas Lambert.
Rolin said he had left his home to go to Swift Lumber just five minutes before the fire occurred.
