Atmore Mayor Jim Staff said the drive is an effort to reduce trash around Atmore, while officials look for a more efficient way to run Atmore’ s recycling system.

“We would like to do something that is bigger and better than what we have in place,” Staff said.
Staff said the city has had problems in the past with the recycling bins, which have been removed from the Farmer’s Market location for approximately a week, being used for general trash and is looking for new avenues to best handle Atmore’s recycling needs.

Staff said the city is looking for a more organized and more cost-efficient method of recycling.
