Time again to enjoy Taste of the South event

It’s once again time for Taste of the South in Atmore. As hard as it may to believe that late September is already upon us, it is even harder to believe that this year marks the 10-year anniversary of the event’s creation as the project of the 2004 Leadership Atmore class.
We want to encourage local residents and visitors alike to take advantage of this great — not to mention tasty — event. Not only does Taste of the South give you a chance to sample some of Atmore’s finest restaurants, as well as food from private chefs, but half of the proceeds go to help support our chamber of commerce, which has a staff that works tirelessly to promote our town year round.
There are few things done better in the South than food and fellowship, and this annual event brings out the best of both in Atmore. Don’t miss it this year.
Taste of the South will be held tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 19, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Heritage Park on South Main Street. Tickets may be purchased at the gate for $10 and will allow the ticket holder five “tastes” from any of the vendors.
Vendors participating in this year’s event include: Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce; the Concerned Citizens of Atmore; Atmore News; Lambert’s Bakery and Ice Cream Parlor; Atmore/PCI Animal Shelter; Stephanie Boothe; Kim Himes; Women of Distinction; Acapulco; VFW Post 7016 Ladies Auxiliary; Jalisco; Abe Klaussan; First National Bank and Trust; United Bank; David’s Catfish House; South Alabama Vending/Patsy Fincher Treats; and St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church.
