Anthony Martez Welker

Mr. Anthony Martez Welker, 40, of Excel, formerly of Atmore, transitioned into eternal rest on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at Springhill Hospital in Mobile.

He was born in West Germany and reared in Atmore and Perdido. He was a graduate of Baldwin County High School in 1991. He attended Faulkner State Community College.

He had been a truck driver since 2004 and recently employed with Phoenix Trucking Co. In his leisure time he enjoyed football (Florida State fan), basketball, fishing, and auto racing.

His father, Eddie McArthur Welker, and his grandparents preceded him in death.

Those left to cherish his life are his wife, Sherie Andrews-Welker of Excel; one son, Dekota Martez Welker of Excel; two stepsons, Damion Andrews and Scotty Andrews, both of Excel; his mother, Linda Judy Bynum- Welker of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Renee (Eric) Cash of Upper Marlboro, Md.; one granddaughter and host of relatives.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at St. Thomas AME Zion Church in Perdido, with the Rev. Humphrey Shuford, pastor, officiating. Inhumation will be in the Mt. Shiloh Cemetery in Nokomis.

Viewing will be held on Thursday from 11 a.m. until funeral service time at the church, with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC, directing.
