Carl Ray Ardis

Mr. Carl Ray Ardis, 80, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at a Monroeville nursing home facility.

Mr. Ardis was born July 15, 1933, to Isaac and Maggie Marshall Ardis in Semiah Springs. He was a licensed mortician/funeral director and worked at Johnson’s Funeral Home for more than 35 years. Mr. Ardis lived in Escambia County for a short time, but had been a resident of Monroe County most of his life. He was a member of Fountain Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Frances Turberville Ardis of Franklin; one son, Carlton Ray “Buster” Ardis of Huxford; four daughters, Diane Dellaccio (Mike) of Atmore, Denise Smith of Huxford, Ranae Mura (Joey) of Huxford and Jennifer Alisha Ardis of Montgomery; three sisters, Nora Hadley of Louisville, Ky., Frances Smith of Atmore and twin sister, Carol Jordan of Frisco City; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at Johnson’s Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Leys and the Rev. Buddy Williams officiating. Burial followed in Bryant Cemetery in Franklin.

Pallbearers were Mr. Ardis’s six nephews, Glenn Jordan of Chattanooga, Tenn., Neal Jordan of Mobile, Allen Jordan of Grove Hill, Ike Hadley of Wetumpka, Gaines Bayles of Monroeville and Mike Turberville of Franklin.
