Ethel Lucille Madison Gross

There will be a celebration of Ethel Lucille Madison Gross, 90, transitioned from this life on earth to her heavenly home, where she will be reunited with her parents, William Howard and Ida Williams Madison; her husband, Luther; two sisters and five brothers.

She was formerly of Atmore but staying with one of her daughters in Pensacola, Fla., when she passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014.
She was born in Monroe County on Jan. 20, 1924. She was a member of Poarch Creek Indians, Atmore Quilting Club, a former member of Presley Street Baptist Church and a member of Brooks Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors are two daughters, Sherry (Glenn) Schaeffer and Sheila (Michael) Byrd, both of Pensacola, Fla.; one sister, Eloise (William “Bill”) Younce of Millington, Tenn.; three grandchildren, James Byrd of Pace, Fla., Jennifer Lay of Pensacola, Fla., and Lisa Muccillo of Cincinnati, Ohio; and six great-grandchildren, Blake Duvall, Maddox Lay, Parker Byrd, Kaylee Byrd, Kristen Byrd and Harper Muccillo.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday March 10, from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Grindle officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Family received visitors from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service on Monday March 10, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc., was in charge of all arrangements.
