Joyce Bray Jones

Joyce Bray Jones of Mobile, Ala., formerly of Rome, Ga., passed away peacefully on March 30, 2014.
She was born in Louisville, Miss., on Jan. 14, 1934. She was a graduate of the Mobile Infirmary School of Nursing in 1955. While in school she was elected president of the Alabama State Nurses Association and was voted to represent the school in the 1954 Mobile Azalea Trail Coronation.
Joyce graduated from the University of Alabama Hospital School of Anesthesia for Nurses in 1958, then practiced as a nurse anesthetist in Rome, Ga., for 38 years.
Those who preceded her in death include her parents, McKinley and Irnie Bray; brothers, Jamie Bray, M.C. (Buddy) Bray, Jack Bray; and sisters, Catherine (Suzy) Bradley and Josie Westover.
She is survived by daughter Angie Coxe and her husband Jim; sons, Tim Jones and wife Julie, David Jones and wife Karen; grandchildren, Megan Coxe Johnson, Courtney Coxe, Summer Jones, Hannah Jones and Andrew Jones; and sisters, Peggie Bradley and Patricia McNeel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 2, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.
