Delloyd ‘Bud’ Johnson

Mr. Delloyd “Bud” Johnson, 79, of Atmore, took the Master by his hand, as he whispered, “Well Done thy good and faithful servant” on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Johnson was a native of Escambia County, and resident of Atmore for most of his life. He attended Pleasant Hill School. He was a retired machine operator at Monsanto (now known as Solutia) Chemical Co. In his leisure, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Those whom he will meet, in that Great By and By in Heaven, will be his wife, Ella Mae Johnson; his parents, Charlie and Viola Johnson; his sisters, Lucille, Helen, Minnie, and Ollie and his brothers, Peter, Willie C., and Robert Lee.

Those left to cherish his memories are five daughters, Shelia Finley of Pensacola, Fla., Jacqueline Williams, Yvette Johnson, Myeika Johnson and Tichina Burt, all of Atmore; five sons, Gregory Johnson, Larry Darnell Johnson, Delloyd Johnson Jr., Michael Johnson and Randy Johnson, all of Atmore; one sister, Mary Reynolds of Atmore; four brothers, Oneil Johnson of Atmore, Jessie Johnson of Inglewood, Calif., Woodrow Johnson of Chicago, Ill. and Dewey Johnson of Jackson; 25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, Feb. 26, at 1 p.m. from Jones Street Triumph Pentecostal Holiness Church, 90 Jones Street, Atmore, with Bishop Willie L. Williams, pastor, officiating.

Retirement of his remains will be in Stallworth Cemetery. Public viewing will be held Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

His body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service, with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC, directing.
