New Atmore Police Chief Chuck Brooks says that his officers will take the city’s noise ordinance seriously.

Since becoming police chief, Brooks has heard from several citizens complaining about loud noise in the city limits of Atmore. Typically, the noise comes from loudspeakers played out the window of a vehicle or home.

“I’m going to tell my guys to tighten up and heavily enforce the city’s noise nuisance ordinance,” Brooks said.

Officers will be issuing citations, and if violators are found guilty, the fine can be as high as $367.

“Nobody enjoys music anymore than I do,” Brooks said. “But you need to keep the music inside your car.”
