Two shootings took place over the Labor Day holiday weekend in Atmore, officials said Tuesday.
The first shooting took place at 211 Wilkerson Street on Saturday at approximately 11:45 p.m.
“The Atmore Police Department received a call of a male subject bleeding at 239 Liberty Street,” 21st Judicial Drug Task Force Agent Scott Walden said. “The caller stated that he was bleeding from the face, head and hand. He was then transported by personal vehicle to Atmore Community Hospital.”
Walden said the subject was identified as Lashaun Brown, 31.
Walden said Brown stated that he was over at the Wilkerson Street residence, where Anthony McCance, 32, approached him and struck him in the face several times with a pistol.
“Then, he (McCance) shot him once in the left hand,” Walden said.
Walden said McCance has been charged with assault I.
Walden said Brown didn’t know why McCance assaulted him.
“He said a vehicle pulled up, and Mr. McCance and another person where in the vehicle talking,” Walden said. “McCance then turned around and struck him in the face and fired one shot in the hand.”
The second shooting took place late Monday afternoon, where APD officers responded to a shots fired call on Jones Street.
“They found where somebody had fired some shots into a vehicle that was parked in a yard on Jones Street,” APD Investigator Robbie Williams said. “Some of the witnesses said a Miller McCaster, 27, drove by and shot at another subject in the house.”
Williams said after gathering enough evidence, they were able to charge McCaster with attempted murder.
Williams said no one was injured as a result of the shooting.
