Bama de-collars Bulldogs Saturday; AU loses

Alabama struggled on offense early, but its defense did what it’s done week in and week out in a 31-6 victory over Mississippi State last week.
Dak Prescott, the most prolific passer in the Southeastern Conference, had a good game with 300 yards in the air against the Crimson Tide. His counter part, Jake Coker went 15-of-25 for 144 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
Derrick Henry had a good game with his second consecutive 200-yard rushing contest with 204 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns.
The Crimson Tide outscored MSU 21-3 in the second quarter and 10-3 during the final 30 minutes to pull out the win.
MSU kicker Westin Graves kicked field goals from 31 and 39 yards out in the second and third quarters.
Henry broke of a 74-yard run in the second quarter to put Bama ahead and out of reach at 21-3.
This week, the Crimson Tide has a home contest against Charleston Southern for a 3 p.m. kick off.
Alabama needs LSU to beat Ole Miss to clinch the SEC West and a berth to the SEC Championship game in Atlanta, Ga.
In other SEC action, Auburn lost 20-13 to Georgia in one of the South’s oldest rivalries.
Auburn running back Jovon Robinson rushed for 93 yards on 12 carries to lead the Tigers, and quarterback Jeremy Johnson had a decent game going 14-of-22 for 61 yards in the air with no touchdowns.
Auburn led 7-0 after the first quarter and took a 10-3 advantage going into halftime. The Bulldogs then went on to outscore the Tigers 17-3 in the second half.
Georgia’s Isaiah McKenzie punched the ball in from 4 yards and scored on a 53-yard punt return; and Marshall Morgan kicked a 38-yard field goal in the final 30 minutes of the game.
The Tigers have a home game against Idaho this week, where kick off is also set for 3 p.m.
