David Nolin is running for a seat on the Escambia County School Board.

“First, let me say how thankful I am to be blessed by being an American and having the privilege of running for public office in our county,” Nolin said. “This is indeed a privilege that none of us should take lightly. As we all know, our freedom to participate in our democracy is really not free, but purchased at a very high price.

“As I think about my reasons for my decision to run for Escambia County Board of Education, I find that these reasons are connected to many years of involvement in public education in our county and state. In addition, I have a passion and love for the children of our Escambia County.”

Nolin has spent over 41 years in the state public educational system and more than 39 of those years have been spent here in our county. He served two years outside the county.

“I have been privileged to work as a teacher, coach and administrator at grades 3-12 in our county schools,” he said. “I have also been very involved in various professional and leadership activities at the county, state, district and national which further equip me to serve in informed manner.”

Nolin has served in many administrative posts, including:

● assistant principal of Escambia County Middle School – three years

● assistant principal of Escambia County High School – three years

● principal of A.C. Moore Middle School – 14 years at the time of his retirement in October 2012

● also served as the Escambia County Liaison for the Indian Education program for 13 years.

Some of his leadership positions include:

● District 8 Elementary Association (encompasses 7 southwestern Alabama counties) served as president for one year and legislative representative for 14 years

● statewide elementary principals CLAS executive board (Montgomery) for three years

● voting representative for elementary principles of Alabama for three years at the annual national conventions.

“I am now asking you to allow me the privilege of representing District 6 on the school board using the knowledge that I have gained as a member of the educational system,” he said. “This knowledge from my ‘boots on the ground’ experience will help me make informed policy decisions to help improve our school system. It is my sincere hope that you will allow me to serve my home county as a member of the board of education. I pledge to be accessible to you during my term as well as to provide the leadership to represent the views of the citizens of our county.”

A vote for David Nolin for District 6 Escambia County School Board will be a vote for continued progress.
