Local football teams begin spring training

Local football teams are hitting the gridiron as spring training began this week.

Escambia County High School kicks off its today.

Escambia Academy started its spring regimine on Monday.

In addition, Northview got its training session going this week.

Spring training for high school football teams is a time where coaches assess where their players could fit on the field during the upcoming season.

As a treat for the players’ hard work after spring training, a jamboree-type game is played usually at the middle of May.

ECHS is set to travel to J.U. Blacksher for a May 13 contest. The date of the game may change because JUBHS is still in the baseball playoffs.

Dates and times for spring games for EA and NHS haven’t been released as of press time on Monday.
