Altha Correne Walker

Altha Correne Walker, 98, of Atmore, passed away on Thurs., April 28, 2016, in

Atmore.

She was a homemaker, born in Frisco City on July 31, 1917, to the late

Alton and Annie Bailey Byrd. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, C.E.Walker; son, Sylvester Chavers; daughter, Dorothy Joiner; and grandsons, Lee Graves and Tony Joiner.

Survivors are one son, James (Nell) Walker of Gulf Port, Miss.; two daughters, Doris Graves of Range and Loyce (Bill) Parker of Chelan, Wash.; one sister, Laverne (Ray) Digmon of Atmore; three grandchildren, Sonny, Dorie and Tammy; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held Sat., April 30, 2016, from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. C.L. Langford serving as officiate. Interment followed in Oak Hill

Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Butch Lee, Ricky Crook, Daniel White, David Langford, Jimmy Langford and Carlos Albritton.

Family received friends Sat., April 30, 2016, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

A special thanks goes to the Atmore Nursing Home for their special care given Mrs. Walker.

Hazel B. McCullough

Hazel B. McCullough, 79, of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away on Thurs., April 28, 2016, in

Pensacola, Fla.

She was a Homemaker, born in Pineville, Fla., on June 29, 1936, to the late Arthur Lee and Eula Seales Barlow.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny McCullough.

Survivors are two sons, Steven McCullough of Enon, Fla. and John (Kim) McCullough

of Dry Springs, Fla.; one daughter, Angela (Bill) English of Walnut Hill; one brother, Jerry (Debbie) Barlow of Dry Springs; nine grandchildren, Daniel, Emily, John Wesley, Hannah, Abby, Vanesse, Kendra, Destiny and Jedd; seven great-grandchildren; and two on the way.

Services were held Sun., May 1, 2016, from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joe Gipson officiating. Interment followed in Dry Springs Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were John Wesley McCullough, Mason Coleman, Hunter Milliken, Jesse

McCullough, Jason Barlow, Bob McCullough, Honorary Pallbearers, Tyson and Levi Milliken.

Family received friends Saturday April 30, 2016 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Judith Marie Walker Dove

Mrs. Judith Marie Walker Dove, 70, passed away on Sat., April 30, 2016, in Davisville, Fla.

Mrs. Dove was a native of Jacksonville, Fla. and a resident of Davisville since 1971. She attended the Pinebarren Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee A. and Mary L. Walker.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years and six months, Ronald Dove of Davisville; three sons, Ronald Dove Jr., Patrick (Laurie) Dove and Christopher Dove, all of Davisville; two sisters, Mary Lee Shipley of Charlotte, N.C. and Debbie Sorkin of Lake Toxaway, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tues., May 3, 2016, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Harper serving as officiate.

Burial was held at the Pinebarren Cemetery.

Visitation was held May 2, 2016, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Dove, Patrick Dove, Chris Dove, Tyler Dove, Eli Hines, Graham Shipley and Scott Francis.

Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC of Atmore was in charge of all arrangements.

 

Kenneth “Kenny” Lyons

Mr. Kenneth L. “KENNY” Lyons, 52, of Atmore and Atlanta, Ga., entered eternal rest suddenly on April 26, 2016 at Atmore Community Hospital.

A native of Atmore, Kenny was a graduate of Escambia County High School in 1982 and had attended Troy State University on a football scholarship. He was a lifelong member of Gaines Chapel AME Church. He loved his family, fishing, and Auburn football. He was a retired chauffeur with Gold Kist Chicken Company in Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Johnnie Lyons and Ms. Josie Mae Jefferson Lyons; and one sister, Sandra Lyons Poindexter.

Those left to cherish his life and legacy are his devoted and loving wife, Darlene E. Lyons of Marietta, Ga.; one daughter, Kesha L. Lyons of Marietta; two sons, Jacolby (Crystal) Holmes of Gainesville, Fla. and David (Andra) Rodgers III of Suffolk, Va.; five sisters, Diane (Harry) Daughtry-Adams of Atmore, Sheila (William) Hauser, Jackie, Karen and Leslie Lyons, all of Pensacola, Fla.; five brothers, Rickey (Tammy) Lyons of Brewton, Lewis (Olivia) Lyons of Atmore, Randy Lyons of Atlanta, and Willie and Johnnie Lyons, both of Pensacola; three grandsons, Jayden and Kyson Holmes and David Rodges IV; one aunt, Ella Jefferson of Glassboro, N.J.; one uncle, Willie Lyons of Atmore; one devoted niece/sister, Michelle (Thess) Hubert of Prince George, Va.; two special nephews, Devon (Kerry) Lyons of Pace, Fla. and Rickey (Dena) Lyons of Atmore; one devoted cousin, Ron Middleton of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life service was held Sat., April 30, 2016, from Empowement Tabernacle Christian Center with the Rev. Freddie Banks serving as eulogist; Bishop Willie L. Williams as the presider; and Overseer Darryl North as gracious host with Turner Funeral Chapel LLC directing.

Russell Barrette

Mr. Russell D. Barrette, 88, of Atmore, passed away on Fri., April 29, 2016, at his son’s home in Alvin, Texas. Russell was born on Dec. 7, 1927, and was residing with his son in Alvin for the last five years. He worked in the oil field industry and had a variety of skills and jobs pertaining to drilling.

Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Buford Griffin Barrette; and daughter in law, Connie Barrette.

Mr. Barrette is survived by his son, Russell G. Barrette of Alvin; daughter, Judith A. Rimmer of Duncanville, Texas; four grandchildren, Michael Barrette, Rachael Barrette, Tamara McDaniel and Kathy Rimmer; four great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends that truly loved him.
