The Escambia County Lady Blue Devils beat Vigor twice yesterday in the Class 5A, Area 2 tournament in Jackson to earn a berth to the South Regional Tournament in Gulf Shores next week.

ECHS beat Vigor 14-5 in the first game, and 6-2 in the second.

During the Lady Blue Devils’ second game, Jackson won 15-0.

ECHS coach Brian McGuire said senior Ciera Stots pitched well during the wins over VHS.

In the final game of the day, McGuire said his girls took advantage of stray pitching.

“We stole the bases several times,” he said. “That’s the biggest thing.”

ECHS will face JHS in the area championship tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. The Lady Blue Devils need to beat JHS twice to win the title.
