An Atmore man was involved in a shooting Friday night at a residence on Craig Street, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Police Chief Chuck Brooks said the APD received a 911 call for assistance on East Craig Street at approximately 8 p.m. Friday.

“Upon officer’s arrival, initial contact was made with a white male who was lying in the front yard, and appeared to have been shot in the abdominal area,” Brooks said. “Atmore Ambulance was contacted and arrived on scene and administered medical assistance.”

Brooks said the ambulance transported the subject to Atmore Community Hospital, where he was later transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Pensacola, Fla., by LifeFlight, where he’s listed in stable condition.

Brooks said names are being withheld as the case is currently under investigation.
