As rain is pouring down on Atmore this evening, motorists are encouraged to avoid flooded streets, city officials said.
Several streets are flooded due to the rain, and the Atmore Police and Fire Department have blocked the areas that are the most impacted.
Mayor Jim Staff said if motorists run through the caution tape will be ticketed.
Staff said the usual flooded spots include:
• Presley Street and Poplar Street intersection
• Cypress Street and Beck Street near A.C. Moore Elementary
• Fourth Avenue and Craig Street
• Horner Street and Sixth Avenue
• Carver Avenue and Brown.
Staff said the problem with the flooded streets is the waves from traffic can damage houses and businesses along the road.
