Academy holds sports banquet

Escambia Academy seniors H.T. Fountain and Mikayla Spruill were awarded the Lance Daw Award and Dana Kent Award, respectively, for the top male and female athlete at the Canoe school’s all sports banquet last Monday night.

Awards were given to athletes who participated in every sport starting with the fall season.

Each athlete on every program was given a certificate. Special awards were given to those athletes who performed at a high level.

Saige Garrett, most versatile

Haley Leachman, most heart

Spruill, most valuable player (MVP)

• Varsity Football

Bradley Campbell, Josh Fields, Fountain and Nolen White as team captains

• Varsity Baseball

Campbell, spirit award

Cole Waters, MVP

• Varsity Softball

Ashlyn Glick, defensive MVP

Victoria Sawyer, offensive MVP

Lexie Hollinger, MVP

• Weightlifting

Chase Bell, junior ironman award

Trae Lee and Kris Brown, iron man award

• Varsity Boys Track and Field

Gary Campbell, coach’s award

Jace Daniels, most improved award

Louie Turner, rookie of the year award

Kainoa Gumapac, captain

Fred Flavors, second most improved award

Patrick McGee, MVP

• Varsity Girls Track and Field

Pia Gorme and Melissa Wilson, most improved performance

Madalyn Smith, coach’s award

Calle Byrd, team captain

Spruill, most outstanding female athlete.
