The Atmore Police Department arrested two for methamphetamine last weekend.

According to Chief Chuck Brooks, the first drug arrest was conducted on Sat., May 21, at 2:47 p.m.

“An officer with the Atmore Police Department witnessed an individual he knew that did not have a driver’s license driving on Ashley Street,” Brooks said. “The vehicle didn’t have a tag as well, so he initiated a traffic stop on Second Avenue and Ridgeley Street.”

Brooks said the officer spoke with the driver and the passenger, which was Janna Michelle Dunn of Atmore.

“It was later determined that Dunn was in possession of 25 Clonazepams and 2 grams of methamphetamine,” he said.

Brooks said Dunn was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

The second arrest occurred on Sun., May 22, at around 7 p.m.

“A traffic stop was conducted at Point Escambia Apartments, and during the investigation, officers received consent to search the vehicle,” Brooks said. “They found a glass pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine, and it contained residue that tested positive for meth.”

Brooks said Jacob Leroy Baggett was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were sent to the Escambia County Jail in Brewton.
